My Dear Melancholy,

"We really did a radical reinterpretation of Captain America in 'Winter Soldier,'" said Joe Russo, who wore an "Ohio Against the World" t-shirt during a question and answer session Saturday. "We were twice as aggressive in tone and execution on 'Civil War.'"

The movie features 68 distinct characters, not 67.

Either way, it's a nearly overwhelming number of characters, and the brothers discussed the challenges in working with such a large number of players.

"We have to tell a story and that story has to be built around the characters' emotional arcs," said Joe Russo. "And we can only have so many of those."

Rather than fleshing out each individual, the film will focus on a handful of characters, and many superheroes will play ancillary roles, he said.

The pair was careful not to divulge too much information about their upcoming projects, but said "Civil War" is a continuation of the story started "Winter Soldier."

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Haha, with so many characters I guess we can be sure a good portion of them are actually going to be offed.

I don't want them to get overly gritty but I hope this keeps up, it'd be weird if it goes back to being cuddly "only the bad guys die" kind of adventures with faceless armies of goons with no real relevance being defeated.

Winter Soldier was excellent imo, only movie in the series I'm still excited to rewatch.

It doesn't really matter if it's dark or violent, I just want to see Black Panther kicking a***.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

"CUT THE CAP TO PIECES, THIS MOVIE'S DARK!"

But seriously, trying to be dark can backfire easily

My Dear Melancholy,

Well it said "darker" which since it's MCU could just mean it's not as happy go Lucky as the other movies.

I doubt it'll be like DC where their animated movies and movies are serious

You could've just said their movies in general are serious.

Doesn't really matter, DC's kind of serious is the really boring type of serious.

I really think they should stop revealing too much info about da film. Like its darker tone or grittier executions etc

Like a user posted, it can easily backfire

Though I'm sure the writer-director due would give a great character & emotional-driven tale without typical Hollywood cliches. In short, a wholesome experience.

Civil War could mark a resurgence of sort for Marvel films as none of their offerings really impressed me, bar Age of Ultron & Winter Soldier

To be honest, yeah.

Felt it was much superior sequel as Loki was a rather underwhelming villain in Avengers, while Ultron was quite....better in my eyes

Some characters that felt half-baked/caricature as Black Widow & Hawkeye was fleshed & character interactions were fun in Age of Ultron

Why? You didnt like it Darker?

No, I did not. I wasn't really happy with the first one, and the second one was an even less enjoyable experience for me.

They turned Ultron into a joke. Ultron in every comic and every show (plus the animated movie) has been a serious threat, a villain who didn't throw a lame joke even once. If I recall correctly, Ultron did, several times throughout the movie. The movie wasn't actually that memorable anyway. I was fine with Ultron being made by Stark instead of Hank Pym, it made sense in the context of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it's quite disappointing for me.

You want the real Ultron? THIS is Ultron.

That wicked smile on his metal face, the ruthless and emotionless machine-like personality, the menacing voice. That's all I wanted Ultron to have in that movie. It didn't have it. The closest it got was with Ultron's last body when he talks to Vision.

I liked Vision, I felt like he was the only character I could recognize by personality alone, even if it was pretty weird how he was attached to one of the gems/stones Thanos seeks to find. As for other characters, they were all pretty bland, with nothing but one-liners, and while I appreciate Hawkeye getting some development and stuff, I'm not familiar with this family bussiness the movie was trying to introduce me to, as far as I'm concerned the only family Hawkeye had was a s***ty one. But the family part was still pretty cool.

My favourite part in the whole movie was probably when Cap tore apart that piece of wood. The entire room went "WOAH", which I liked. It impressed me a bit, I knew there were doing something right in that scene. And as for the Banner/Widow romance thing, I don't really care for it, Banner in the MCU is as dull as a brick. No offense to Ruffalo because he did a good job in the first movie, but I would've enjoyed a little bit more focus on him.

And if you're curious and google it, you'll realize the Age of Ultron comic is completely different from the movie.
Sorry if I'm ranting too much about Ultron, but I'm started to get really pissed off that none of my favourite Marvel characters are being done right on the big screen. Not even Spidey. The only one who gets to shine with a very faithful movie is freaking Deadpool, yet Fox didn't throw any effort at all with Fantastic Four. Goddamnit.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Doesn't really matter to me if Ultron wasn't like his comic book self at all, I don't mind them doing their own thing with characters...but he was a pretty pathetic villain in the movie, easily wrecked by Iron Man, couldn't even catch Cap and he was mostly all talk.

So I'm definitely more of a fan of darker stuff like Winter Soldier, Hydra and Winter Soldier himself actually felt like a threat, even though we know the good guys will win in the end it's nice when they struggle to do so.

Ultron's bots were laughable, the Chitauri I can understand being weak since they're living beings and a headshot should obviously kill them but Ultron's bots were basically Iron Man suits being taken out by arrows and standard gunfire...threatening.

I don't know much about Black Panther but can't wait to see him, his suit is freaking rad.

He's basically the african version of Batman from Marvel, but way cooler.

My Dear Melancholy,

Black Panther... Cooler....than Batman........... *twitches*. That's.....a awfully exaggerated opinion.

Also darker... Ultron wasn't a threat in every comic. Only in 2.5 universes.

Lastly... Wanna know about revealing too much? Watch the BvS trailer where we know how the fight ends.
